• Scouting Program

Homenetmen Fresno Sassoon Chapter's scouting program is a cornerstone of their mission to nurture the youth in a framework of Armenian cultural heritage and scouting principles. Designed to foster a sense of community and personal growth, the program offers a diverse array of activities that promote teamwork, leadership, and respect for nature. Scouts engage in outdoor adventures such as camping, hiking, and orienteering, which not only challenge them physically but also teach critical survival skills and environmental stewardship. These experiences are enriched with lessons on Armenian history and culture, ensuring that participants grow with a strong sense of identity and pride in their heritage.

Homenetmen Fresno Sassoon Chapter Scouting Division meets every Sunday at the Garo and Alice Armenian Cultural Center for regular scouting activities.

Scouts are divided by age group and gender. Our youngest co-ed group, the Moglis, includes scouts aged 3-6 years old. The next oldest groups are the Kailigs (male cub scouts) and Ardzvigs (young girl scouts) aged 7-11. Our oldest groups are the Aris (boy scouts) and Arenoushes (girl scouts) ages 12+.

Our activities begin at 1:00 PM with a flag ceremony and many other activities schedluled for that week. In addition to our standard scouting agendas, groups also partake in weekend and week-long camps, field trips, charity and volunteering outings, and other special events throughout the year!

Leadership skills are cultivated through structured roles within the scouting units, allowing scouts to take on responsibilities and lead their peers in various activities. Homenetmen Fresno takes pride in its commitment to guiding young Armenians to become leaders who are well-rounded, ethical, and dedicated to the betterment of society.
